Domestic Deity is a 4th year competitions paper.
Due to Covid-19 all competitions were cancelled so I decided upon creating a sartorial response to Covid and my lockdown experience.
Domestic Deity conjures the banal and the everyday chores faced with during lockdown, and is explored through creating banal garments such as underwear and socks. The main drape piece is created by hand manipulations through a method of 3D Shibori or heat resist. This fabric is a direct conceptual response to the virus as is the drape to the deity.
